Summer Camp Leader

Season Dates: May 11 – August 31, 2026. This position will work 37.5 hours per week
Availability Requirement: Must be available for the entire season
Reports To: Summer Camp Coordinator & Programs Coordinator

The Orchards Residents Association (ORA) is a non-profit organization that owns and operates the community clubhouse, park, and associated amenities for the exclusive use of its members. ORA offers a wide range of sports, fitness, and recreational programs for all ages throughout the year, supporting healthy lifestyles and enhancing quality of life. We also create opportunities for residents to connect with their neighbours and build a strong sense of community through events and initiatives, including our dynamic and engaging Summer Camp Program.

Our summer camp leaders are instrumental in developing safe, inclusive, and enriching youth day camp programming that is active, adventurous, and fun! 

Position Overview:

We are seeking energetic, responsible, and engaging leaders to join our team for the 2026 summer season. Reporting to the Summer Camp Coordinator, this role is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, and engaging day camp programming for children ages 6 to 11. The camp season runs for 9 weeks, from June 29 to August 28, with an additional 2–3 weeks of onboarding and program planning before the start date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and facilitate an engaging weekly interactive Summer Camp program for children ages 6-11 years, with direction from the Summer Camp Coordinator 
  • Provide active and attentive supervision for all campers
  • Lead camp activities and provide instruction in a positive and engaging manner
  • Prepare all camp materials and ensure supplies are set up before camp starts
  • Work collaboratively with the Summer Camp Coordinator and fellow leaders to deliver high-quality programming
  • Adapt quickly and develop solutions to challenges as they arise
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive and positive environment for all campers, leading by example and supporting individual needs appropriately
  • Administer First Aid as necessary and notify the Camp Coordinator as soon as possible 
  • Communicate effectively with the team, parents, and participants
  • Report any problems, concerns, or emergencies that arise during the camp to the Camp Coordinator 
  • Provide exceptional customer service

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Experience coaching, instructing, or working with children in a recreational setting is considered an asset
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Physically able to participate in activities (running, climbing, lifting, and supporting children as needed)
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Certification is an asset
  • Minimum of 18 years of age

Compensation:

  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience
