Diwali at The Club House
We are very excited to be hosting a Diwali Celebration on Monday, November 13th from 4pm to 6pm at The Club House. Our Orchards community is very diverse and we aim to foster a sense of belonging which means that every member of our community feels that they are welcomed and are valued to the community.
Enjoy some sweet treats, delicious chai tea, music and dancing, and festive crafts. We hope this festival brings joy, prosperity, and happiness to your home and our community!
This event is open to all Orchards residents and their guests. We encourage all members to come join in on the fun and learn about India’s biggest celebration of the year.
Fabulous Facts about Diwali:
- Diwali takes place annually and lasts for five days, marking the start of the Hindu New Year. The exact dates change each year but this year, Diwali falls on Sunday 12 November.
- Rangoli is a popular Diwali tradition –– beautiful patterns made using colourful powders and flowers. People draw rangoli on the floor by the entrance of their homes to welcome the gods and bring good luck! We will have the supplies at our event to try to make some colourful Rangoli.
- Firecrackers and decorating with lamps and candles are an essential part of the celebration. Over the years, electrical lighting decorations have become one way to make elaborate decors.
